I sit here, Father, feeling the relief of an ever-present God. Your Spirit, the Advocate, is here and will be through every part of my day. Through the fatigue of work, through the effort of life, through the highs of good circumstances and the pains of bad news – you are here.
I pray that you help me remain steadfast in the company of your presence today. In every moment where my heart starts to wonder, where the loneliness of work from home begins to set in, where my eyes dilate under the distraction of everyday life, may your spirit remind me of whose company I walk in.
Father, I understand that my sin runs deep. I know how much of that sin is still inside me like a corrosion preventing me from joy, yet I continue to choose it over you. I’m sorry. However, my desire today is to want you greater than myself, and choose you in spite of my bored addiction to short-term pleasure.
In John, 14:23 You say, “If anyone loves me he will keep my word, and my Father will love Him, and we shall come to him and make our home with him.” You promise to come meet with me and spend your day here in my broken state, King of Kings and Lord of Lords. The weight of that fact should never be lost on me. Help my perspective today to not lose sight of the significance of your intentional and constant presence.
Amen
